Boston (February 21) –The Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center at Roxbury Crossing will be the site of the 2025 New England Intercollegiate Indoor Track & Field Championships to be contested at the at the Bob McIntyre Track on Friday/Saturday, March 7-8. NEICAAA Commissioner, Shawn Green, finalized the details this past week.
This year’s competition will mark the 56th edition of the men’s Championships and the 47th meeting for the women. The last time the Championships were held at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center and the Bob McIntyre was in 2022. The men’s and women’s two-day competition features a combined 42 events during the championships. The contested events are as follows:
60m (meters), 200m, 400m, 500m, 800m, 1000m, 1-mile, 3000m, 5000m, 60m hurdles, 4x400mR (Relay), 4x800mR, Distance Medley Relay, high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot put, weight throw, heptathlon (men), pentathlon (women).
On the men’s side, The University of Rhode Island Rams are the defending team champions scoring a total of 121 points last year, while the women’s team title was garnered by the UMass Amherst Minute women with a score of 119.50. Both teams have entered this year’s championships. The men’s championships were first held in 1969 at Northeastern University’s Cabot Cage on a 160-yard banked, dirt track. The NU Huskies won the initial championships by a score of 34-24 over Holy Cross. Boston University hosted the first women’s indoor championships in 1979 on a 200-meter banked, synthetic track at the Commonwealth Armory. Connecticut Huskies took the first women’s title with 161.50 points over Southern Connecticut, who trailed with 91. No indoor championships were held in 2021 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.,
The championships will begin at 10:00 AM on both days, beginning with the pentathlon (women) on Friday and the heptathlon (men) on Saturday. The complete time schedule is noted below.
